i need help in creating continious running banners

Hi,

I hope that someone can give me some good advice as to making a banner. I know how to make banners and so on but i want to restructure the look of my site which is no problem at the moment. The problem i find is setting up a banner space that will display different banners through out the whole visit.

Not sure if i am making sense but to put it simple, i am looking at a top menu bar to have a banner, that banner will change from one ad to another with a timer, even when the user hasnt changed page.

Can this be done and how would i go about it? I am using php with dreamweaver, also the usual htm flash and what you would normally find in most sites.

any help will be great.

I would suggest that a script that changes the banner even when the user hasn't moved to a new page isn't really a good idea. You don't know if the user sees the banner and you don't know how many banners you've displayed to users - which makes it difficult to charge the people who are advertising!

You can get a random banner changer here:
http://www.webclass.ru/eng/Tutorials...s_rotator.html
This will choose a random image each time the user goes to a page, but because it's random you could see the same advert twice before seeing a new one.

But if you want a true banner ad changer that's not random but always shows an ad that hasn't been shown then you'll need to try a technology such as ASP/PHP.

banners

Hi and thanks for that advice. I will try this. But i think i should have mentioned that they would all be my own banners as there are allot of items and services that i want to advertise.

I will let you know how it goes but if anyone else has any other advice it will be great to hear them too.

Paulo
