I'm sort of new to webdesign...
I have just started to design a div layout for a myspace page. http://myspace.com/awakenyourspirit So...it looks tidy in IE but looks crap in Firefox... What can I do? Why does firefox always display things differently? Should I worry? How many people actually use it? Is there a secret to making layouts looking identical in IE and Firefox??? Or is this something that will bother me forever? Pleeeese help! Thanks |

Re: frustrated with firefox
Well problem number one is that you are designing this for myspace. Which to be honest has some horrible code. When you are coding on your own server and you come across this issue you can do a hack to make it work in both browsers.
Ummm, yes you need to worry about firefox. Lots of people are using that, also what about Mac? What about Linux? You need to test on as many different platforms and browsers as possible. You don't want to leave anyone out, since all that is required is a minor hack! |

Re: frustrated with firefox
As Jacob said yes you have to worry about Firefox, it is becomeing more commonly used now. One more point, that floating Butterfly, is there a point to it as it sits right on the 'Friends Spaces' scroll bar. This happenes in Opera, Explorer, Firefox and Safari

Here's some reading material on the IE vs FF for testing
Don’t use IE as your primary testing browser Developing your site using Firefox Which browsers should I test in? |

Re: frustrated with firefox
Thankyou...
Umm no point to that floating butterfly, its just pretty and i like it there..lol I can move it out of the way however. Thanks for tips, and I will use firefox as testing browser so I wont get a shock when I do test it... My page looked so messed up, I think i'm getting the hang of it now... All the sections are thicker in firefox than IE... so I've spaced them better and it looks good in both browsers now |
