mr flashy light!

so ummm im trying to make an effect sorta like this:

http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Effec...l-66/index.php

excpet if you notice that the letters mask the shadow?

anyways its not going to follow the mouse. instead im going to tween the flashlight circle. if tried making a simple "soft filled edge shape" in flash and masking a picture but you only get solid graphics masked.. no fading circle mask effect.

so any help?

You can download that file! Go on, download it.

It *is* a mask...

So how would you get the soft edges? It's all in that file...

right. but its not going to mask just one graphic or one layer in that matter. its going to be an entire website and unless i make my entire website one mc
which i dont wanna do cuz id have a lot of interference in actionscript.

say if you clicked a button you would have to tell it to _parent.gotoandplay w/e and also a _root.gotoandplay w/e just to make the shadow tween and to navigate through the site if you get what i mean.

mucho trouble, but i guess ill eventually find out

Aah right, no you can't do that. That's why masks aren't used much.

if your doing this on your site I believe this can be done with javascript... I used to have the script until but I didn't save it when I rebuilt. I'll search the web for the flashlight effect and post back.

I'm assuming this script will work no matter what's on the page, even a page with only a flash movie?
