How do I create a shadow around my page?
I've been playing around with web design the past few years and I'm wanting to take it more seriously now. I use Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and once I figured out how to use it, I find it works fairly well, most of the time. I also use AAA Logo to do my custom graphics.
My question is this. I notice on a lot of web sites, the main page, usually centered in the middle of the screen and over top of a background image, there will be a shadow that is around all 4 edges making it stand out. How do you do this? A quick and simple example of this is found at http:\\www.carolinarockingchair.com - notice how the white box in the middle containing all the info has a nice shadow surrounding it? Hope to hear from you experts soon! |

Re: How do I create a shadow around my page?
It's nothing special, you just need to make a box around the content area or use the body with a shadow background image. Using images is the only way to do it.

Re: How do I create a shadow around my page?
I am using AAA Logo to create my graphics and it makes nice boxes for menus, text, etc with a nice drop shadow behind it. But it only puts the shadow around part of it, not around all 4 sides. Is there a way to do this directly in Dreamweaver?

Probably. You might have to delve into the code view. I only use a text editor when coding sites, so I've never used Dreamweaver.

Re: How do I create a shadow around my page?
Unfortunately there isn't a way to do that directly through Dreamweaver.
You have to make a graphic (square or rectangle) and put a show around it. Yes an all four sided shadow not just a two sided shadow. Then you have to slice the image in that graphics program. Then you can insert it into Dreamweaver by use of code. Here's a tutorial. This isn't exactly how I described it but this would work. http://www.projectseven.com/tutorial...les2/index.htm Here's another tutorial using Photoshop Here's another tutorial using Fireworks and Dreamweaver. If you don't have Fireworks download the 30 day free trial at www.adobe.com |
