hi, looking for advice on website

currently doing a university project where i have to design a website in dreamweaver. designed it and started working in dreamweaver, my problem is that i want to create a website with a 'ice layout' and have no idea how to do it. can anyone help?

Do you own a graphics program? You first need to design the graphics. Once you have designed the layout in the graphics program, you slice it up and start implementing it into Dreamweaver.

hi there. i've designed the layout in photoshop and have started to import it into dreamweaver. i havnt sliced it up as such because in the guidelines of the brief it says we have to use layers an Div's to create the layout. so i've basically got a few layers, with background images in the from my photoshop layout. the problem is that when i preview it in the browser it sticks to the left hand side of the screen. i'm trying to figure out how to make it always be centered, no matter what size the screen is. is slicing the only way to do this or is it possible with layers?

If you set the margins to the div to

margin: { 
0 auto;
}

that will center it.

And you need to

body {
         text-align: center;
}

as well.

Only for IE 5.x compatibility and if that happens you need to text-align:left; the containing div to compensate.
