another actionscript problem....

how can i tell it to go to frame 2 of the MAIN timeline from within a movie clip that is on frame 1 of the main timeline?

i've tried:

gotoAndPlay("main",2)

where main is what i've named the scene.

i've tried:

_root.gotoAndPlay(2)

and

_parent.gotoAndPlay(2)

nothing works! it just repeats frame 1

If you simply have this Actionscript inside a movieclip then _root.gotoAndPlay(2) should work. I've just tested it and it *does* work.

If you're having problems with it for whatever reason, you could try

telltarget("_root") {
  gotoAndPlay(2);
}

If instead you are using loadmovie to import a movie into that movieclip, then you may need to refer to the level of the _root you want to get to, as in this context, _root will be the root of the imported movie and not the main movie that imported it!

still doesnt work!

all it is is actionscript on the last frame of a movie that is on the first frame of the main timeline. whats going wrong :S!!!

ok - the script is actually getting executed, but it just takes it back to the 2nd frame of the movie i'm in....

it doesnt matter now - i re-did it in a different fla file and it worked fine
