so all you want is a simple one page news archive? You don't need to pay, there are tons of free ones out there. CMS implies a lot more functionality you don't need so don't go waving that word about.

You won't wind anyone up. You've been perfectly reasonable, only not entirely clear about what you can do and what you were trying to achieve. But that just comes with time and thousands of forum posts...

If you can handle login, then all you need is to be able to read and write files.
