also only use jpgs if complex colours, and by using gifs if simple colours (diagrams, simple logos etc) you should reduce load. are you saving things at 72dpi? are you flattening the psd images before saving for web? is it uploaded and can you post the url? as with all design, think whether something is actually needed. let us know if any of this is any use. good luck
