I'm researching how web designers and developers get feedback about their designs. Do you typically do user research up front to better understand user needs? How do you typically do that kind of research? If you don't, how do you get feedback about designs? Is usability testing something you normally do? Why or why not?

I ask because the company I work for is considering developing a product to make the process of getting user feedback easier.
