Re: Internet

I thought you were retired, sannbe? I switched to DSL a while ago. They built a tower really close to me and it's blazing fast for the price. 1.5mb. Saving me a ton of money now that the people who were sharing T1 with me moved out. I always thought DSL was slower than cable, but this is way faster.

I would've gone cable, but for some reason, the cable company here wants me to put in a $10,000 node to extend it to my house and the one next to me. Our two houses are literally the only two in the entire Las Vegas valley without cable access. Houses on all four sides of mine have it. And by all four sides, I mean within 100 feet.

Cox cable can go to hell.

So did I but someone was telling me that, cable can theoretically match adsl but in reality is far more inconsistent and unreliable. Don't know if it's true but I can certainly testify for it. I'm on 10meg cable and if it runs at a tenth that speed then I'm overjoyed. Woefully slow.

Switching to adsl soon 16meg. Woo hoo! Lets just hope it's actually any good.

Pete.

I am retired. I was on Sonet when I retired. Think I mentioned I worked for a telcom company. We were their testing rats.

DSL is faster and great when you get a discount like I do...retired Telcom employee. I use to handle all the data circuit orders for government accounts so I know alot about all that crap. Which is why I do telcom consulting now.
