Hi all,

Please give me some feedback on the newly designed website for developerfolio, which is aimed at developers. they can apply for jobs that recruiters have posted and users can create and online portfolio where they get their own developerfolio domain to distribute

Thanks
Daz

Re: Web developers portfolio website

It's not bad ... it has a lot of potential but I think there's still some work to be done with it.

Good:
- I really like your logo ... the puzzle thing. Very intuitive.
- The colors are not bad. Orange is not use alot so ... it's different. Not sure I would match that with red however.

What needs work:
- Lose the dashed borders. Don't use any at all.
- What's with the whole blurbs being a link? Just make a few key words in the text a link ... not the whole thing.
- That menu could use some rollovers to liven it up.
- I think that the sections at the bottom (Register with Us, Advertise your jobs, etc...) would be really nice and (I hate using this word but) 2.0ish if you put them in a nice rounded box with an outer glow ... you know ... to make it more interesting. Something like the 3 buttons in the middle of the content here, or like the people in this site, even the boxes here ... well I could go on but I think you get what I mean by now?

Conclusion: Overall it's a nice start ... it needs punch .. that WOW factor it needs to be spiced up a little .

Re: Web developers portfolio website

Hi,
I am an Internet Application Programmer,i've gone through your site and my comment is based on my current studies on e-commerce.Here are my comments:
1. Your home page is too congested u have to much text and graphics.
2. Your colours for your banner is not contrasts enough.
3. The white space on the botton of your home page is not balanced i.e too much white space.

Re: Web developers portfolio website

In my opinion it's not really a design. It's a whole lot of white with stuff thrown in. It needs to be divided up a bit by color, areas of interest, areas of prominence etc.
The blue links just look more like google ads.
I like the photos you used such as "advertise a job" but I think they need to be much bigger. Don't make me work so hard to find out where I want to go. Not sure why some of the nav buttons are underlined and now purple. Is that your visited color combo?
Newest users is a nice touch but I think it should be on the right hand side. The left edge is where I'd put the most important content. Certainly not google ads or news.
I'm not crazy about the site... I think these types of pages need to have bare bones info on the homepage. Give me an idea of what it's about, show me where to go to get what I need, "sign me up" and nothing else.

Good luck!

Re: Web developers portfolio website

It's looking better. The standard blue links need to go, however. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of organization here, or too much of it, rather.
