orb-like 'explosion'??

hey all,

do you know how to make an orb-like explosion effect? There is a circle which is semi-transparent and its an orb ( an eclipse ) and emits a substantial amount of light at the middle and thus looks like it is exploding from the inside. Yes... you could say it should look like a hologram or something. How do I do that in PHotoshop? Have been searching all over the web, but nothing. I hope I would get some response.. its been pritty dull here.

Can you show us an example or have we got to interpret what you say? lol...

I can make an orb and I could probably do light from the middle.... but I don't really think it would look like it's exploding... hmmm...

hrmm.. well If you find an orb tutorial you would end up putting the 'explosion' under one of the layers.. so go ahead and make the orb, then when you find the right explosion effect, or lighting effect you will just insert that in between one of the layers to finish it off. I haven't found much on the subject either.

You could say its something like the one at my site

http://www.gwx.biz/templates.html

but something done in PHOTOSHOP and being less transparent and with binary bitstream, a bluey 'tech' futuristic hue and a more realistic explosion. And I would like it to look like a 'hologram'...

can it be done? help!

Ok, I've discovered it's much easier to do an orb in Illustrator in the first place because it's better for individual images. Do you guys have illustrator?
